I wrote Outside The Wire 2011 with Zoe Saldana in mind. Having a single-parent Latina as the protagonist in a gritty action thriller hadn’t been done before. It won the Academy Nicholl Fellowship - the biggest screenwriting competition in the world - it got me repped at Brillstein and ICM and hired to write Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare.

And Zoe signed on as star and producer.

 

This script changed everything, but it never got made. Zoe spent the following decade starring in the most successful movie franchises of all time (Avatar and Marvel). She aged-out the character I had written but if you watch her in the tv show Lioness that could be the same character I wrote in Outside The Wire a decade on. Same world, same character.​

 

In 2014  Zoe and I developed an idea for a virtual production movie. This is was years before virtual production would becomes a thing, but her experience on Avatar had turned her into an early believer.​
